Local Italian Restaurant Brightens Summer for Foster Children with Space Cowboys Tickets Donation
Corelli's Italian Restaurant, a beloved local establishment in Sugar Land, has hit a home run for foster care children of Fort Bend County. Thanks to their generous sponsorship, 55 kids are getting tickets to an upcoming Space Cowboys game.
For over 20 years, Corelli's has aimed to create a positive impact in their local community, taking on multiple initiatives each year to give back in a variety of ways to the local community. Going beyond the provisions of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, this gift will help the children make memories while experiencing the joy and wonder of childhood.
Owner Don Guggenheim, known for his philanthropic spirit, made this donation possible. David M. Lanagan, Chair of the Fort Bend County Child Welfare Board, shared that, "Don Guggenheim, the owner of Corelli's, is an old friend with a giving heart. He presented this opportunity to us asking 'how many kids would you like to send?' ".

Lanagan further emphasized how local businesses can contribute to this initiative, stating, "Businesses or groups can provide needed items and experiences by considering what would enrich any child's life. We are trying to provide normal experiences for these children, the same as for any other child."
The Fort Bend County Child Welfare Board, appointed by the Commissioner's Court with its operations funded by the County, works to make the lives of the children under their care as pleasant and normal as possible, sending them to summer camps, taking museum trips, enrolling them in leadership programs, and much more. Although not officially affiliated with the Child Advocates of Fort Bend, they do cooperate with them to fund various initiatives.
Lanagan noted how local businesses' involvement could significantly impact these children's lives, saying, "The fact is, local businesses can make the lives of children under foster care much more like every other kid in the county. When businesses like this join in to say that they can help, it makes a world of difference".
