Bridgeland Theatre Company Presents Willy Wonka: A Whimsical Musical Journey into Pure Imagination
This May, the Bridgeland Theatre Company invites the Cypress community to enter a world of pure imagination as they present Willy Wonka, a magical musical stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic tale, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. With four performances scheduled from May 22–24, 2025, this production promises to be a heartwarming, whimsical, and unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
Under the direction of Adam W. Delka and assistant/technical director Allison Christian, this student-led performance will bring to life the colorful characters and deliciously quirky world that generations have come to love.
A Classic Story with a Musical Twist
Based on Dahl’s iconic book and featuring music from the beloved 1971 film starring Gene Wilder—along with new songs by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley—Willy Wonka tells the story of a mysterious candy maker who stages a worldwide contest to find five lucky children to tour his chocolate factory.
Among the winners is Charlie Bucket, a humble and kind-hearted boy who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. As the children navigate fantastical rooms filled with chocolate rivers, nut-sorting squirrels, and Oompa Loompas, they face lessons about honesty, self-control, and kindness—all under the watchful eye of the enigmatic Willy Wonka.
Bridgeland’s production aims to delight audiences with both the timeless story and the scrumptious musical numbersthat fans know and love. It’s a tale that emphasizes the importance of virtue, imagination, and being true to oneself.
