Cinco Ranch Fall Book Sale Offers Bargain Books While Promoting Literacy and Sustainability

August 18 2025

Local readers and bargain hunters are invited to the upcoming Fall Book Sale hosted by the Friends of the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, taking place Saturday, September 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room of the library at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd, Katy, TX 77494.

The sale features a wide selection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, classics, DVDs, and CDs—many priced at $1.00 or less. Cash or checks will be accepted at the event.

Organized by the Friends of the Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the book sale helps raise funds that directly support community programming at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, including initiatives like the Summer Reading Challenge, cultural events, and the purchase of supplemental library materials.

Beyond providing low-cost reading materials, events like this also play a role in promoting environmental sustainability. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, over 640,000 tons of books are discarded each year in the United States, much of which ends up in landfills. Book sales and donation programs help reduce waste by giving pre-loved books a second life—while also encouraging community-based reuse.
