Cinco Ranch II Celebrates National Pickleball Day as Residents Embrace the Fast-Growing Sport
Pickleball—the fast-paced, easy-to-learn sport sweeping the nation—is thriving in Cinco Ranch II, where residents have access to dedicated pickleball courts at the Rosewood courts on Cinco Terrace Drive. With National Pickleball Day taking place on Thursday, August 8, many residents are discovering why this game has become one of America’s most popular recreational activities.
The game itself is a mix of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, played with a paddle and a perforated ball on a smaller court. It’s beginner-friendly, social, and accessible for all ages, which has helped it become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
A Sport with a Unique Origin Story
Pickleball originated in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, when three fathers invented the game as a summer activity for their children. What began as a backyard pastime has evolved into a sport played by millions nationwide. Today, pickleball courts are appearing in neighborhoods, parks, and recreation centers across the country—and Cinco Ranch II is no exception.
