Description

Join Pam Gates, a docent from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. African American artists often reflect the reality of daily life in their communities. How they express that reality varies greatly from the time of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and 30s to the present day. The art works that will be presented show the beauty and resilience of the Black community but also their frustration over the years. These artists use unique styles to represent their point of view. This presentation will discuss the work of Black artists who have created exceptional and thought provoking works of art.
