The Conroe Independent School District Board of Trustees has officially named Dr. David Vinsonas the Lone Finalist for Superintendent of Schools. A Leader With Proven Results
Dr. Vinson comes to Conroe ISD with an established track record of success. Since 2011, he has served as Superintendent of Wylie ISD, where he earned recognition for both academic excellence and fiscal responsibility. Under his leadership:
- Wylie ISD consistently earned “A” ratings from the Texas Education Agency.
- Every campus in the district achieved an “A” rating in 2025.
- Dual-credit enrollment grew by 600%, creating more college opportunities for students.

Deep Roots in Education
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Dr. Vinson’s academic journey includes a B.B.A. in Management and Marketing, a Master’s in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on character education. His 30-year career in public education began in Idalou ISD as a gifted and talented teacher, later advancing into leadership positions in Frenship ISD and Floresville ISD before his tenure in Wylie.
Beyond his district roles, Dr. Vinson has been an influential voice across Texas, including chairing the Student Behavior Management Coalition, which helped secure passage of House Bill 6, a reform in student discipline. He also contributed to literacy initiatives as part of the HB3 Reading Academies.
