Fairfield Sidewalk Improvements Move Forward with Phase 2 of Master Plan
The Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 155 has released an updated version of its Master Sidewalk Improvements Plan, with Phase 2 now underway. The initiative focuses on expanding pedestrian pathways throughout Fairfield neighborhoods, including segments that impact Inwood Park residents.
On June 26, the District confirmed that work is advancing along Channel C, where a new 4,100-foot sidewalk is being installed between Fairfield Falls Way and the Fairfield Athletic Complex. Another 7,600-foot segment is planned along Channel A, from Crossvine Trail Court to Chesnut Falls, bringing the total new construction to 11,700 feet of trail connectivity.
The updated map shows sidewalk development extending near Inwood Park, providing greater access to parks, schools, and shopping centers while improving neighborhood walkability and drainage management. Sidewalks in the plan are designed to be 8 feet wide, in compliance with Harris County requirements for shared-use trails .

According to meeting minutes from January 27, 2025, the Board of Directors for Harris County WCID No. 155 approved the completion of Phase 1 of the sidewalk project, with final inspections and permits cleared by the Harris County Flood Control District and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Board member Ms. Ellison emphasized the importance of extending sidewalks along Channel C, noting that current pedestrian traffic often damages the grass berms, causing ruts and erosion. “A sidewalk would encourage any walkers not to walk on grass or in mud and help with maintenance of the condition of the maintenance berm,” she said. She also noted that, at that time, coordination with the local homeowners association was still required for final approval and maintenance agreements .
Inwood Park residents can expect improved pedestrian access as the project progresses, especially near Fairfield Park Drive and the surrounding drainage channels. The plan also aligns with the District’s broader goals of flood control, connectivity, and community accessibility.
The Harris County WCID No. 155 Board meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Bradford Creek Clubhouse. Residents are encouraged to attend meetings and offer feedback on sidewalk projects and other infrastructure updates.
