Fort Bend County Libraries Offer Free Teen Art Workshops Exploring Impressionism, Pop Art and More This Summer
This summer, Fort Bend County Libraries are inviting teens to paint, learn, and connect with global art history through a new, free art workshop series for high school students. Timed with the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, the program—titled “Color Our World: Journey Through Global Art Forms”—gives teens entering grades 9 through 12 a hands-on opportunity to explore influential art movements from around the world.
Engaging Teens Through Creative Expression
The free art classes for teens are made possible by volunteers from Unite & Inspire, a nonprofit group promoting youth engagement through service and education. Each workshop focuses on a major art movement—Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Pop Art—offering both historical insight and artistic exploration.
Participants will learn about the origins and characteristics of each movement, then try their hand at recreating iconic works of art. All materials—including canvas, acrylic paints, and brushes—are provided free of charge, thanks to generous support from the Friends of the Library organizations.
With space limited, advance registration is required for each session to ensure every participant receives the needed supplies.
