Fort Bend Teen Service League Seeks Young Volunteers for 2025–2026: Fostering Leadership, Friendship, and Lifelong Service
The Fort Bend Teen Service League (FBTSL) is inviting a new generation of young women to embrace leadership, service, and community impact as part of its 2025–2026 membership drive. With two upcoming summer informational meetings, the nonprofit is calling on teens across Fort Bend County to join a legacy of volunteerism that has been shaping lives since 2006.
Open to high school girls entering grades 9–12—and now, for the first time, welcoming 7th and 8th grade girls through a pilot program alongside a woman parent or guardian—FBTSL provides structured opportunities for youth to engage in philanthropy, educational initiatives, and cultural enrichment, all while building friendships and leadership skills.

A Legacy of Service and Mentorship
Launched in the spring of 2006 with more than 80 inaugural members, FBTSL was born out of FBJSL’s desire to mentor the next generation of women leaders in Fort Bend County. Today, with over 70 active teen members, the League continues to thrive as a key resource for local charitable initiatives.
Teen League members contribute volunteer hours throughout the year, often supporting FBJSL core placements and local nonprofits not already served by the parent organization. These experiences are designed to instill civic responsibility, teamwork, and a heart for service that lasts a lifetime.
As FBTSL explains, “It is the intent of Teen League to encourage its members to become caring, involved citizens of this community. As membership increases, the spirit of responsibility and volunteerism increases and helps to promote lifelong volunteers.”
Benefits of Teen Volunteerism
Research continues to underscore the personal and academic value of volunteering during adolescence. According to Youth.gov, teens who volunteer are 50% more likely to vote and twice as likely to volunteer in adulthood. Volunteer service also correlates with improved academic performance, higher self-esteem, and reduced engagement in risky behaviors.
FBTSL's programming aligns directly with these benefits, offering meaningful projects that allow members to take ownership of their roles and grow into confident, community-minded young women.
In Fort Bend County, this model has proven successful. “The Fort Bend Teen Service League will improve Fort Bend County by providing effective young women volunteers to worthy charitable organizations through our volunteer efforts,” states the organization's vision.

New in 2025: Preteen Pilot Program
Recognizing the value of early service experiences, FBTSL is piloting a new program for girls entering 7th and 8th grades. This initiative allows preteens to volunteer alongside a woman guardian who is a current FBJSL member—be it a mother, aunt, or grandmother. It’s a family-centered approach that reinforces intergenerational service and mentorship.
