Multiple Panera Breads Close in Spring Area After Franchise Bankruptcy Filing
Three Panera Bread cafés in Spring—located at 21620 Kuykendahl Rd., 3548 Rayford Rd., and 1448 Louetta Rd.—have shut down operations permanently as part of a wider franchise bankruptcy.
The cafés were operated by EYM Café of Texas LLC, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on August 2, 2025. Public filings with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas reveal that the company owes millions in debt, with less than $50,000 in assets.
Panera LLC had already terminated its franchise agreement with EYM prior to the bankruptcy, launching a lawsuit that alleges failure to pay royalties, food safety breaches, and unauthorized use of the Panera name. The legal action led to the closure of all 15 EYM-run Panera locations across Greater Houston, including these three in Spring.

For residents of North Houston, the shutdown of multiple locations in such close proximity has left a noticeable gap—especially for those in Klein, Imperial Oaks, and Remington Ranch who visited the cafés frequently for coffee, lunch, or workspace.
The nearest remaining Panera Bread location is at 25665 US-59, Kingwood, TX 77339, which remains unaffected and continues to operate under corporate management.
