Panera Bread on SH 249 in Tomball Closes Permanently Following Bankruptcy Filing
Panera Bread’s Tomball location at 28403 State Highway 249 is now permanently closed, joining a growing list of Houston-area cafés shut down after the bankruptcy of EYM Café of Texas LLC.
The franchise operator, which ran 15 Panera locations across Greater Houston, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 2, 2025. Records from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas show the company has millions in liabilities and under $50,000 in assets.
Before the filing, Panera LLC had already terminated EYM’s franchise agreement and filed a legal complaint alleging non-payment of royalties, brand misuse, and violations of food safety protocols. In response, all EYM-operated cafés were ordered to close and remove any Panera-related branding.
