Rennell Elementary Fifth Grader Earns Cy-Fair ISD Student of the Week Recognition
At just 11 years old, Zaley Bowles, a fifth grader at Rennell Elementary School in CFISD, is already charting a bright path filled with talent, heart, and ambition. Recently named CFISD Student of the Week, Zaley is gaining applause not only for her academic engagement, but also for her deep dedication to the arts—a passion that continues to inspire those around her.
Zaley's teachers describe her as driven and creative, with a passion that shows in everything from math class to music rehearsals. Her recent acceptance into the Broadway Artists Alliance in New York City is just one of many milestones that reflect her talent and work ethic. This summer, she’ll head to New York to participate in exclusive workshops that bring together young performers from around the country.
A Rising Star in the Arts
Zaley’s artistic resume is already impressive. She played Ariel in The Little Mermaid at Class Act Productions, is a member of the Houston Youth Chamber Orchestra, and has taken part in the CFISD Elementary School Choral Festival. She also takes voice lessons, dance classes, and plays soccer—a blend of creativity and athleticism that keeps her constantly growing.
“I want to be an actress because I like to act, sing, and dance,” Zaley said. “It makes me feel alive and excited.”
Her love for performing is matched by her appreciation for music. When asked what inspires her most, her answer was simple: “Music.”

Balancing the Arts and Academics
While Zaley’s talents on stage shine brightly, she’s equally enthusiastic about her time in the classroom. Her favorite subject? Math.
“Math is easier to show my work, and I have strategies I can use,” she said. “It’s the most interactive, and I like being able to figure things out.”
This love of learning extends beyond school hours. Zaley is currently teaching herself Italian through Duolingo, inspired by her brother who may attend college in Italy. “Duolingo is my favorite app right now,” she shared. “It’s fun to learn a new language and feel connected to something bigger.”
Family, Friends, and Faith at the Core
Behind her achievements is a strong foundation rooted in values that matter most to her: connection and care. “My family, my pets, and my faith are important to me,” Zaley shared. “They’re part of who I am.”
When she’s not rehearsing or studying, Zaley loves spending time with her loved ones. “I like to play soccer, dance, and be part of theatre productions,” she said. “I also like to hang out and talk with my friends.”
From jamming out to 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton to watching Pitch Perfect movies for their musical energy, Zaley is a blend of old soul and modern creative—a young person who embraces every opportunity to express herself and connect with others.
