Spring Events Bloom at the Pearl Fincher Museum: Student Art, Earth Day Family Fun, and a LEGO® Star Wars Celebration
The Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is welcoming the warmer months with a dynamic lineup of free community events designed to inspire creativity, celebrate young talent, and bring families together. Located in Spring at 6815 Cypresswood Drive near Cypress, the Pearl is currently hosting its annual Student Art Exhibition, gearing up for an Earth Day Family Day on April 26, and preparing to celebrate the Force with a Star Wars-themed LEGO® event on May 3.
As the only fine arts museum in Harris County outside of Houston’s city center, the Pearl offers free admission to all and is powered by the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and foundations. From budding artists to Jedi builders, there’s something for everyone this season.
Fresh Perspectives: Celebrating Student Creativity
Running through May 10 in the Main Gallery, Fresh Perspectives: Visionaries of the Next Generation is more than just an art show—it’s a celebration of youthful imagination and hard work. The student art exhibition showcases winners from the Pearl’s Student Art Contest, sponsored by the museum’s Volunteer Guild. Artwork from elementary through high school students across northwest Houston takes center stage, offering a colorful window into the minds of tomorrow’s creative leaders.

The exhibition also features Chronicles: Art in the Spirit of Storytelling, curated by the Pearl’s Youth Art Council, and Lone Star College Student Highlights, offering a glimpse at college-level talent from across the Greater Houston area.
Earth Day Family Day: Art, Animals, and Atmosphere
On Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Pearl will host a lively Earth Day Family Day—an event ideal for families looking for free Earth Day events in Houston. Attendees can expect hands-on art activities, a petting zoo, and whimsical entertainment by the Texas Bubblers.
An Art Market will also be featured, giving visitors the opportunity to support local artists and vendors. Admission is free, but the museum kindly asks guests to register in advance at pearlmfa.org.

More to Explore at the Pearl
In addition to its spring events, the Pearl Fincher Museum is also hosting “HEARD” by Tramaine Townsend in the Cole Gallery, a compelling visual narrative exploring the history of Black cowboys. This exhibition is on view through May 10 and offers visitors another layer of cultural depth.
Looking ahead, the museum will present a Mother’s Day Piano Concert by Steinway Artist Don Irwin on May 11, and registration is already underway for the Pearl’s 2025 Summer Art Camps, which run weekly from June 2 through August 1. These camps offer themes like sculpture, digital design, and LEGO® Brick Club for kids aged 5 to 12.
