Texas Best Music Fest Returns to Mo's Place in Katy June 1 with Top Country Artists to Help Kids Heal
For fans of live Texas country music and community-driven causes, this is the summer event to mark on the calendar. On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the beloved Texas Best Music Fest (TBMF) returns to Mo’s Place in Katy, uniting some of the state’s most talented musicians for an afternoon of great music — all to help children who’ve experienced trauma find joy, healing, and hope again.
This year’s festival brings together the dynamic trio known as The Texas Guitar Slingers — Scotty Alexander, Hayden Baker, and David Lewis — along with Bill, Kim, and Jimmy Nash, the musical family behind Champions Kids Camp, the nonprofit at the heart of the event. General admission tickets are just $25, and all proceeds go directly toward sending kids to a life-changing summer camp experience.
A Festival That Hits All the Right Notes
Texas Best Music Fest isn’t your average concert. Born in 2013 from a passion for Texas music and a commitment to helping Houston-area kids, TBMF has featured major acts over the years like Roger Creager, Turnpike Troubadours, and The Josh Abbott Band. In 2016, it shattered records by raising more than $100,000 to support kids in need.
This year, the energy and purpose behind the festival are stronger than ever. The 2025 theme, “Texas Music Supporting Texas Kids,” sums it up perfectly — great local music for a cause that truly matters.

Meet the Musicians Behind the Magic
Scotty Alexander is known for his blazing guitar skills, heartfelt lyrics, and energetic stage presence. With a resume that includes touring with Neal McCoy and a background in both the Nashville and Texas scenes, Alexander’s mix of showmanship and sincerity makes him a standout performer.
Hayden Baker, a Katy native, is making waves in the Texas country circuit with his rich vocals and modern-meets-traditional sound. He’s opened for icons like Willie Nelson and Joe Nichols, but he’s equally at home playing a local venue for his hometown crowd.
David Lewis brings soul and grit to every song. A storyteller at heart, Lewis is known for connecting with his audience through raw emotion and honest songwriting — the kind of artist who makes you feel every lyric.
Bill, Kim, and Jimmy Nash aren’t just performers — they’re the heartbeat of this event. Both were raised in touring family bands. After meeting Kim in 1980, the two shifted their focus to songwriting in Nashville, where they co-wrote the Reba McEntire hit “They Asked About You,” featured on her 11-million-selling Greatest Hits Vol. II. In 2003, they formed the group Nash3 with their son Jimmy, achieving a No. 1 independent chart hit with “In God We Still Trust,” later recorded by Diamond Rio. Today, Bill and Kim live in Houston, continue to perform together, and dedicate their time to raising awareness and funds for Champions Kids Camp, the nonprofit they founded in honor of their son's recovery from leukemia.

More Than a Concert — It’s a Lifeline for Local Kids
At the center of it all is Champions Kids Camp, founded in 2001 to support children aged 8 to 12 who have been through life-altering events — from serious illness to personal loss or trauma. The camp, held each summer at Carolina Creek Christian Camp in Huntsville, offers kids a place to heal emotionally, make new friends, and simply be kids again.
Campers are invited to a special Christmas party each year, giving them a chance to reunite with the friends and counselors who helped them along their journey. Every experience is free for the children, thanks to generous donors and events like Texas Best Music Fest.
Over the years, thousands of kids have walked away from camp with more confidence, higher self-esteem, and the tools to build brighter futures. As the Nashes say, “They’re not victims — they’re Champions.”
