Typhoon Texas Thanks First Responders with Free Admission During Heroes Weekend This Labor Day in Katy
While most of us are soaking up the final splash of summer this Labor Day weekend, Typhoon Texas is making sure our local heroes—the ones who rarely get a day off—are the ones being celebrated.
From August 30 through September 1, first responders including firefighters, EMTs, police officers, nurses, doctors, and paramedics can enjoy free admission to the west Houston waterpark. The gesture is part of Heroes Weekend, a heartfelt tribute to those who protect and serve our community every day.
To receive free entry, qualifying first responders simply show a valid work ID or badge at the gate. They can also purchase up to six Friends & Family tickets at a discounted price of $19.99 each, available in person at the ticket window.
- Park Hours: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily
- Address: 555 Katy Fort Bend Rd., next to Katy Mills Mall (MAP)

“Heroes Weekend is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to those who answer the call – day and night – to keep us safe,” said John Pham, vice president of marketing for Typhoon Texas. “We’re proud to welcome first responders and their families to relax, recharge, and make summer-closing memories together."

Labor Day Is About Workers—And These Are the Ones Who Never Clock Out
Labor Day isn’t just the unofficial end of summer. It was created to recognize the contributions of the American worker—the people who keep our country running. For first responders, there’s often no such thing as a day off. Emergencies don’t wait for holidays.
That’s why events like Heroes Weekend matter. They give families a chance to spend time with the real people behind the badges, the scrubs, and the sirens. They offer children the chance to look up to everyday heroes who walk among us. And they remind all of us that appreciation doesn’t have to be complicated—it can start with a simple “thank you” and a shared day of fun.
Part of a Growing Culture of Community Connection in Katy
Heroes Weekend is just the beginning. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Typhoon Texas will once again host local heroes—this time for the newly renamed Lonestar Safety Fest, one of the region’s largest public safety events.
What began in 2016 as a small gathering has grown into a free, family-friendly festival with live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and interactive displays from fire, police, EMS, and safety agencies across Texas.
Formerly the Katy Area Safety Fest, the new name reflects its expanded mission and growing reach. Attendees can meet first responders, explore emergency vehicles, and learn practical safety tips in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
Both Heroes Weekend and Lonestar Safety Fest highlight Katy’s growing commitment to community connection, public safety, and appreciation for those who serve. Whether it’s offering waterpark tickets or letting kids explore a firetruck, these moments help bridge the gap between residents and responders.
