Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) Hosting an Open House

March 13 2023

CAM will host their first Open House Event Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. CAM has been serving the Cypress Area for the last 32 years and the only way that has been possible is through the dedication of our volunteers. This invitation-only open house event is the opportunity to shine the spotlight on the 425 volunteers that have committed their time and efforts to helping CAM serve the families in crisis in the Cypress Area.  Light refreshments will be served.

Although CAM has been around for a while now, not many people know the story behind the mission. CAM started as a few individuals receiving donations out of the trunk of a car for people in the area that needed help.  With the support of many other local churches and organizations in June of 1990, CAM became an established 501(c) nonprofit organization. CAM would not be where it is today if it weren’t for someone taking their time to volunteer. Volunteering is heart “work” and one of the most selfless acts a human can give.

After COVID-19 in 2020, we lost a lot of our volunteers. CAM went through a tough time and we haven't been able to celebrate CAM's volunteers in fear of spreading the virus. We prevailed as an organization and we want to give a celebration to all the hands, feet, fingers, and toes that helped us keep our doors open now after 32 years of service. So, whether you volunteered 20 years ago or last week please come and celebrate your hard work and dedication because you are important to CAM!

During the Open House, Alyson Klingensmith CAM’s Volunteer Services Director will announce Volunteer of the Year 2022 and the Volunteer of the 1st Quarter January - March 2023.  Awards will begin at 6:30 pm and we invite you all to come out and celebrate with us at 12930 Cypress North Houston Rd, Cypress, Texas 77429.

About Cypress Assistance Ministries

CAM is a faith-based organization that serves individuals and families in financial crisis, those on the brink of homelessness, the elderly, the unemployed, and anyone that needs hope for a better future. Unexpected events such as illness, separation, job loss, and family crises can be overwhelming, and that's when CAM steps in. Assistance ranges from financial help with rent or utilities, food, furniture, clothing, and household goods to providing job counseling services and job leads.

Our goal is to restore our neighbors, regardless of religious or ethnic background, to self-sufficiency. In addition, CAM provides school supplies, holiday meals, and toys at Christmas for our neighbors in need. For more information, please visit cypressassistance.org
