Cypress Assistance Ministries' Gift a Gown Initiative Helps Cy-Fair ISD Students Shine This Prom Season
With prom season on the horizon, Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is once again helping local students look and feel their best through its “Gift a Gown” initiative, which provides free prom attire and accessories to students in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. The program runs through May 16, 2025, and aims to ensure that cost doesn’t prevent any student from experiencing this special milestone.
Hosted at Angel’s Attic Resale Store, located at 12930 Cypress N Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429, Gift a Gown offers free formalwear, accessories, and even raffle gifts to eligible CFISD students. High schoolers simply need to bring their student ID to browse available gowns, suits, shoes, and accessories during regular store hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
This initiative is part of CAM’s broader mission to support families in need and uplift the local community through practical, compassionate programs.

Making Prom More Accessible
For many teens, prom represents a once-in-a-lifetime event. But with the average cost of a gown often ranging from $200 to $500, the financial burden can be significant. Gift a Gown helps ease that pressure by offering formalwear at no cost, supported entirely through community donations.
In addition to high school prom attire, CAM also makes formalwear available to middle school students attending school-sanctioned dances.
CAM Executive Director Martha Burnes emphasizes the impact of this effort: “This initiative is important to CAM and the people we serve. It allows all our neighbors to contribute something tangible to students, to help them celebrate this important event in their lives.”
How to Donate
Community members can help make prom dreams a reality by donating new or gently used prom dresses and gowns, suits and dress shirts, dress shoes, jewelry and formal accessories. Donations are being accepted now through May 1, 2025, at several partner locations throughout the Cypress area, including Angel’s Attic Resale Store, All The Crave Cheesecakes, Blair Realty Group, Copper Kettle Chocolate Factory, Community Impact Jersey Village, Cypress-Fairbanks Funeral Home, Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, D. Bradley McWilliams YMCA at Cypress Creek, Gulf Coast Bread Pudding, and Steppin’ Time Performing Arts.
Each item donated will be made available through CAM’s Angel’s Attic Resale Store, helping students find the perfect look for prom without the financial strain.
Burnes adds, “By partnering with local businesses, as a community, we can alleviate some of that stress by gifting students gently used prom dresses and attire.”
