Gelato&Co. Opens in Bridgeland with 16 Artisanal Flavors and Italian Tradition

August 07 2025

Bridgeland residents have already started getting a sweet preview of what’s to come. Gelato&Co. quietly opened on August 2, 2025, serving customers under limited hours as they prepare for their official grand opening celebration on Friday, August 15, 2025. Located at 20115 Bridgeland Creek Parkway, Suite 103, Cypress, TX 77433, the shop is currently open daily from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and will offer a free scoop to grand opening guests who sign up here.

From Bologna to Bridgeland

The story of Gelato&Co. begins in Bologna, Italy—a city renowned for its culinary heritage—where Cremeria Funivia became a beloved institution for locals. At the heart of the brand are recipes developed by master gelato-maker Leonardo Ragazzi, who saw gelato not just as dessert, but as an expression of the city’s flavors and traditions.

Gelato&Co.’s roots also trace back to Ezio Manfroni, a visionary in the frozen dessert world. Manfroni co-founded Carpigiani, the world’s leading gelato machine manufacturer, and invented the vertical mantecatore—a batch freezer designed specifically to preserve the texture and authenticity of traditional Italian gelato. His innovations continue to shape how artisanal gelato is made today.

After years of success in Europe, the brand made its way across the Atlantic, opening its first U.S. shop in Florida before expanding across the country. With a thriving location in Katy, Texas, the Bridgeland shop marks Gelato&Co.’s second Greater Houston location and its eleventh nationwide.

How Gelato is Different from Ice Cream

While Americans are no strangers to frozen treats, authentic Italian gelato offers a different experience from traditional ice cream. Gelato is churned at a slower speed, incorporating less air, which creates a denser, silkier texture. It’s also served at a slightly warmer temperature, allowing flavors to be more pronounced.

Where ice cream often relies on heavy cream for richness, gelato uses more milk than cream, resulting in lower fat content. This balance enhances the taste of high-quality ingredients—whether that’s roasted Sicilian pistachios, fresh fruit purees, or rich cocoa—rather than masking them with excess fat. Gelato&Co. follows this philosophy closely, crafting its offerings fresh each day in small batches to ensure optimal texture and flavor.

A Scoop for Every Taste

The Bridgeland shop features 16 artisanal flavors daily, blending Italian tradition with global influences. Classics like pistachio, hazelnut, tiramisù, and stracciatella share the menu with international favorites such as rocher and salted caramel.

For those seeking a lighter indulgence, the dairy-free sorbettos are vegan, fat-free, and bursting with fruit-forward flavor—options include lemon, mango, mixed berries, and passion fruit. Every flavor on the menu is gluten-free, and the rotating selection of sorbetto and gelato creations ensures there’s something for everyone.

Beyond its history and technique, Gelato&Co. brings a sense of community to every location. The new Bridgeland shop offers a place to gather, cool off, and savor flavors that connect customers to an Italian tradition stretching back generations. Each scoop is the result of meticulous craftsmanship—rooted in Bologna, perfected over decades, and made fresh right in the store.
