SweetCup Gelato Now Open in Cypress, Bringing 48 Flavors of Handcrafted Frozen Delights to Tuckerton Road
Cypress dessert lovers have a new reason to celebrate—SweetCup Gelato & Sorbet Originale has officially opened its doors at 20711 Tuckerton Road, Suite 200. Following its grand opening on April 20, 2025, the beloved Houston-based brand is now proudly scooping its signature handcrafted gelato and sorbet in the heart of Cypress, near Bridgeland and Cypress Creek Lakes.
This marks the company’s first franchise location, expanding SweetCup’s mission of bringing globally inspired, locally crafted frozen desserts to even more communities across Texas.
A Gelato Dream Turned Community Favorite
Founded in 2012 by Jasmine Chida, SweetCup began as a labor of love after a life-changing trip to Italy. Unable to find gelato in Houston that matched the quality and flavor of what she had experienced abroad, Chida began making it herself. What started in her home kitchen has since grown into an award-winning dessert destination, known for its commitment to scratch-made recipes and unique flavor combinations.
Now, with the Cypress opening, SweetCup continues that legacy—this time, with franchisees who live in and love the Cypress community. “They wanted to share something unique with this special community,” said Chida. “Cypress is a wonderful place, and we’re so excited to be a part of it.”

What Makes SweetCup Gelato Unique?
SweetCup specializes in artisan gelato, sorbets, frozen yogurt, and house-made toppings, all crafted from scratch using locally sourced ingredients. The Cypress location features 48 rotating flavors, blending Italian tradition with international and Houston-inspired flair. Visitors can expect a mix of classic options like Pistachio, Stracciatella, and Belgian Chocolate, alongside creative flavors such as:
- Mom's Baklava Gelato (Jasmin's mom's recipe)
- Vanilla Bean Tres Leches
- Malai Kulfi (a nod to Indian cardamom traditions)
- Salted Caramel Brownie
- Matcha Mochi
Each gelato batch is made with less air and fat than traditional ice cream, giving it a denser, creamier texture and more intense flavor—served at just the right temperature to let the taste shine through.
