JoyRide Center in Magnolia Transforms Lives Through Therapeutic Riding and Equine-Assisted Programs
Nestled on 10 acres of serene countryside in Magnolia, Texas—just a short drive from Tomball and The Woodlands—the JoyRide Center has quietly become a place of healing, empowerment, and joy for individuals of all abilities. Founded in 2009 with a “Clients First” philosophy, JoyRide has stayed true to its original vision: putting people at the heart of everything they do while offering innovative equine-assisted programs that transform lives.
“From the very beginning, JoyRide has been about valuing quality over quantity,” said Executive Director Dana Jacob, who leads the center with a passion for people and a fresh perspective on community impact. “We never wanted to be the biggest—we wanted to be the best at serving those who come to us for support and care.”
Horses as Healers
At the center of JoyRide’s mission are its horses—special animals carefully chosen not just for their calm, steady temperament but also for their unique ability to connect with people. Each 30-minute riding session moves a rider’s pelvis in the same three-dimensional pattern as walking, a scientifically proven way to help improve mobility, balance, and overall well-being.
“Working with horses offers something you just can’t get in a traditional setting,” said Erica Morales, JoyRide’s Equine Program Manager. “The horses are non-judgmental, steady, and intuitive. They meet people exactly where they are, whether it’s a child with special needs, an adult with disabilities, or a veteran coping with trauma.”

Programs That Change Lives
JoyRide offers several life-enriching programs:
-
Therapeutic Riding: Helping participants build confidence, improve physical function, and develop social skills through certified instruction.
-
PREP Day Program: Founded in 2013, this unique program focuses on functional academics, independent life skills, and vocational training for adults with differing abilities.
-
Equine-Assisted Learning: Launched in 2022, this program uses horse-human interaction to promote mental wellness and life skills.
-
Operation Equine: Tailored for veterans and first responders, this program focuses on rebuilding critical life skills and easing transitions back into civilian life.
“Seeing someone come in unsure and leave with a smile, standing taller, or simply feeling accepted—it’s why we’re here,” shared Tiffany Wallace, Development Manager. “These horses and programs meet people where they are, and we get to witness breakthroughs every single day.”
A Community That Cares
JoyRide’s impact reaches far beyond its programs, thanks to a dedicated team of certified instructors, support staff, and volunteers. With opportunities ranging from sidewalking during lessons to handling horses and helping behind the scenes, there’s a place for anyone who wants to give back.
“Volunteering at JoyRide is life-changing—not just for the clients but for the volunteers too,” said Leah Henry, Volunteer Manager. “The bonds that form here are powerful, and the joy is contagious.”
For those wishing to contribute in other ways, the center welcomes horse donations, ensuring every equine partner receives exceptional care, love, and, of course, plenty of hugs.
