Katy Cowgirls Delighted Members at The Arc of Katy's Annual Barn Dance

May 04 2023

Members of The Arc of Katy, their families and friends joined in festivities of The Arc of Katy's annual Barn Dance on April 1 to raise funds for the organization.

Held on the grounds of The Arc of Katy facility in Brookshire, the family-friendly event featured delicious BBQ brisket cooked by Don Wolf, a friend and supporter of The Arc of Katy. With a long history of supporting the Katy community, several Katy Cowgirls attended the event along with their horses, delighting members and guests as they mixed and mingled. Participants also enjoyed games, music, dancing, and the popular cake walk.

Funds raised will help The Arc of Katy continue to provide much needed, affordable, fun, safe, high quality programs and activities, for adults and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc of Katy works to conquer the social isolation that people with IDD often experience, especially after they graduate from high school, and provide access to resources helpful to their families.

Thirty participants of The Arc of Katy as “Boot Scootin’ Buddies were recognized at the event for each raising $25 or more in donations in their honor. Brandon Sepeda was recognized as the top fundraiser and Mark Bryant was recognized as having the most individual donors.

The Arc of Katy extends a special "thank you" to Bronze Sponsors who donated $500 or more: American Eagle Outfitters, Pat Doucette with Edward Jones, Brewhouse Bakers, the Mary Harris Family, Steve and Cindy Sieck, the Melissa Diaz Family, the Kares/Sepeda Family, Dennis and Jeanne Ann Combrink, and Randye McAnally. The Arc of Katy is also grateful for their barn dance raffle donors, including The Great Texas Pecan Candy Company, Charls Yard Cards, Intoxicating Creations, Barbara Ricks, and Sandi Dancel.

Volunteers from across the Katy area were integral in making this event come to life, including Katy National Charity League Chapter, Star National Charity League Chapter, American Eagle Outfitters (three area locations), Seven Lakes High School Student Council, DJ’s Roger and Rhonda Martin, Kelsey Johnson, the Katy Cowgirls, The Arc of Katy staff, members of the Barn Dance committee, and participant families.
